Chocolate Caramel Brownies
1 box devils food cake mix
1 C chopped walnuts (optional)
1/2 C margarine, melted
1 large can evaporated milk
35 caramels, unwrapped
1 C chocolate chips
In a large bowl, combine the cake mix and nuts.
Stir in margarine. Stir in 3/4 C evaporated milk.
Mix well. Spread 1/2 of the batter into a greased 13x9x2 pan. Bake for 15 min. Slowly melt the caramels and 1/2 c of evaporated milk. Sprinkle chocolate chips over baked batter. Pour melted caramel mixture over the chocolate chips. Spread remaining batter over caramel. ( Remaining milk can be added to batter if needed, to make spreading it out easier.) Bake for 25 min. Cool completely.
