I am beginning another adventure on Sunday. I'll be starting a new book with the high school girls small group. It's called "God Called a Girl" by Shannon Kubiak. She is a young woman who has already written several books for teen girls. I think it will be good and I'm so pleased that several of the girls from the previous group are planning to attend! I covet your prayers as this is the only book Shannon has written that does not have a study guide or accompanying discussion questions. I am ready for this Sunday, but it will be an ongoing challenge to find a chunk of time to come up with those each week.
I am doing something this weekend that I've sort of wanted to do in the past, but now really feel a call to do. I am going to take two Precept Bible Study workshops. They are being held in Lawrence, Kansas, which is about 3 1/2 hours from here. The classes are from 9:00 - 5:00 each day. The one of Friday is on Word Studies...doesn't that sound riveting? :) Seriously though, when I was taking Precept Upon Precept classes in Florida I learned more about studying the Hebrew and Greek words and it was quite interesting and of course helped with understanding the meaning of the original words that were used. (I'll always remember when we did a word study on the word "redeemed". I was teary eyed as I realized what that meant for me in relationship to what Jesus did on the cross!) Wow!
On Saturday, I'm taking the Leader's Training workshop which would equip me to perhaps...some day...lead a Precept Upon Precept class here in Beloit. Very few people are familiar with it around here and I'd love to introduce it if the timing is right.
I'll be leaving tomorrow afternoon and will return late Saturday night. I'll let you know how it goes.
Tim is more than willing to have me do this...but you could keep him in your prayers while I'm gone too. He's fully capable...but...you know...things aren't quite the same when Mom's not home. Thanks!
