Sometime during January we began considering if it might be a good idea to buy a water cooler. (Like the kind in offices or waiting rooms, etc.) First of all, since before we even moved into our house we were warned NOT to drink the water from the tap! Being one to have stomach issues, sometimes for no good reason, I concurred. Secondly, many years ago I began drinking purified, bottled water and just can't seem to have it any other way. (Yes, I can taste a difference! :) ) So, I did a little research into how much we roughly spend each month on water bottles, jugs and yes, ice. (No, I don't even use the tap water for ice cubes!) I then called to get an idea of how much a system would cost, etc. I am happy to say that we now rent a water cooler that believe it or not, does fit nicely in the kitchen. (Where the trashcan used to be.) The price for the first 3 months is only $7a month and each 5 gallon jug is 4.95. (After the 3 months the price raises some but we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.) That's half of what we were spending for bottled water at Walmart! Although the novelty of the cooler has worn off some...the girls seem to be drinking more water because it's just so easy! For the first three days, there were about six cups of water in the fridge every time I opened it. I finally realized that Miss Gracie had been having a great time filling the cups but couldn't keep up with her work. She did finally drink it all...
We're just about ready to change the first jug. That can be quite a task...I told Tim I'd take a picture of him changing it and post it on the blog. He didn't laugh...
