Tomorrow is the Hays Music Festival in Hays, Kansas. The 5th-8th grade orchestra and band from the elementary and Jr. High School will be competing in a competition. The students are able to compete as individuals as well. Lily will be playing with the orchestra in the morning and then will perform a piano solo in the afternoon. I'm not sure how many other schools participate as this is our first opportunity to attend. It's a large, well known event though, so I'm thinking there could be quite a few.
I think it's safe to say that Lily will be relieved when it's over. If you would, please keep her in your prayers. She has practiced faithfully and has the piece memorized and it sounds great. However, the regulations sheet emphasizes that high scores are unusual and not to expect them. I have been "pep talking" her all week and just really want her to have fun and enjoy the experience.

Now...perhaps you can pray for me and Tim too as we are chaperones for the two hour bus ride! Yes, we volunteered and we really aren't dreading it! We know so many of the kids from church and community activities that I think it might even be enjoyable. I must say I was thrilled to learn we are on the 8am bus instead of the one at 6am!
Gracie is spending the day with a girl from the small group I lead. She is excited as Grace, the sitter, has several younger brothers and sisters that Gracie knows from Sunday School.

Tim and I have been having fun this week talking about things we could do on the bus to embarrass Lily. Of course, this is all in fun and Lily knows it. Frankly, I'm just honored that she's glad we're going! We keep telling her how lucky she is to have such cool parents! :) Hee, hee, hee!
