Real World Parents

Tim and I attended a Real World Parents seminar this morning at a church about an hour away from Beloit. It was very encouraging. It is a course offered by Youth Specialties which is probably the leading organization on youth "stuff".

The website is www.RealWorldParents.com if you're interested in learning more. All that we learned applies to dealing with children of all ages, but will also be helpful to remember in all of our relationships.

At the end of the seminar, the leader had all of us read a prayer for parents in unison. I thought you might be encouraged by it as well.

When things are good with our children,
LORD be with us then.

When things are strained, and we feel spread thin,
LORD be with us then.

When we've made mistakes, and we're not sure we can atone,
LORD be with us then.

When it's our turn to show mercy and move on,
LORD be with us then.

When we can't remember what it was like to be young,
LORD be with us then.

When we fail to reign in our tongues,
LORD be with us then.

When our hearts are broken for a brokenhearted child,
LORD be with us then.

When our hearts are calloused, and we're too proud to cry,
LORD be with us then.

LORD, be with us in the darkness
Be with us in the light
Be with us when we're wrong
Be with us when we're right
Be with us in our high times
Be with us when we're low
Be with us every moment till our children come to know that you've always been with them like you've always been with us and always will be.
